We’re already seeing the positive effects of our brand new platform.
The new website soft launched in April, and was designed to make it easier to see what is going on at Active Horizons during the year, facilitate bookings for the different youth schemes, workshops and also to be able to pay for services, and hire the Hub for private bookings.
Covid initially prevented the Hub from running its usual programme of events through Spring, but the team soon facilitated digital events to keep activities going as much as possible.
Increasing discoverability
Our Founder and Director, Yeukai Taruvinga commented on the impact she’s noticed the site has already had these past few months: “The website is amazing, it’s one of the best things that has happened to us. It’s created more trust with people and we’ve had great feedback. It’s given us a lot of us confidence, and we feel it’s giving people so much more information about us and representing us in a great way. A local group who’ve never had any contact with us have this month decided to do some fundraising for us – it’s helped with our visibility and seems to have already facilitated something positive.”
“Getting more supporters, not only financial support, more organic supporters through resources too. And meeting more young people, this is the impact we’re seeing. Even last week I received an email from an academic at SOAS University, he’d been looking at our work and he was amazed. He wants to work with us and get his students to support our young people in our work, and that’s the kind of thing we need that the website seems to be doing now.”
Increasing the scope of the services to the community
Yeukai has been working on the website project since October last year. “I want people to see the Hub as a safe and positive environment, a second home that encourages learning. At our clubs, we will provide breakfast, or freshly prepared evening meals, help the children with their homework, set reading, or other educational and creative activities. Our clubs are a natural extension of what we’re already offering, and give affordable options to local families who need to arrange childcare around work. The new site is fresh, modern and fun, designed to give easy access to our work at the Hub, with an easy booking process. We hope the new site helps more people in Bexley to enjoy our activities.”
New services launch in September
Breakfast and after school clubs launch were due to be launched in Spring but were prevented because of Covid. However we now hope to see these vital services to take off this September. They will be charged at £9 per session and are designed to support families who are working, ensuring they have childcare in a home from home that encourages learning.
